Emerson String Quartet
We open our 60th Anniversary Season with one of the world's truly great ensembles. Formed in 1976 and last heard with SFCM in 1994, the Emerson has performed and recorded throughout the world to highest acclaim, with eight Grammy awards to its credit. Time Magazine named the Emerson "America's greatest quartet," and The Times (London) declared that "with musicians like this there must be some hope for humanity." Read more about the Emerson.

New York Chamber Soloists
This group of distinguished virtuosi performs a diverse repertoire in creatively programmed concerts that include winds as well as strings. Founded in 1959, the ensemble has toured world-wide, and is repeatedly invited back to perform in such notable series as the Library of Congress in Washington and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. We last enjoyed them in Syracuse in 2004. Read more about this group.

Concertante
"Sumptuous," was the way Alan Kozinn of the New York Times described the "cohesive and beautifully polished sound" of Concertante. As solo performers, the six outstanding musicians who form the core of Concertante have graced the premier stages of the world from New York's Carnegie Hall to London's Royal Festival Hall. A Treasury of Trios
Again this year SFCM will present a program featuring distinguished professional musicians from the Central New York area. John Oberbrunner, "Producer" of our mid-winter concert, and SFCM Music Director Richard Moseson are planning an evening of trios for various combinations of instruments by such composers as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Martinů, and Roussel. We always schedule our this special concert on a Tuesday evening so that musicians from the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra can take part. Please note the location.

Miró Quartet
The Miró Quartet was founded in 1995 at the Oberlin Conservatory and enjoyed immediate recognition, captivating audiences around the world with their youthful intensity and mature interpretations. Their numerous awards include the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Cleveland Quartet Award. The Miró was enthusiastically received at the 2008 Skaneateles Festival. Cypress String Quartet with cellist Amit Peled
"They play with an uncommon ferocity," wrote the music critic of the New York Times of this San Francisco-based ensemble. For more than a decade, their performances have won praise at major concert venues around the world. They were singled out by Chamber Music Magazine as "a Generation X ensemble to watch." The quartet will be joined by the young Israeli cellist Amit Peled, who has been described as "having the flair of a young Rostropovich" (American Record Guide). Weilerstein Trio
The brilliant cellist Alisa Weilerstein started making music at the age of four with her parents, violinist Donald and pianist Vivian Weilerstein. Now the three distinguished musicians comprise an ensemble recognized as one of the most dynamic piano trios on the concert stage today. The Weilerstein Trio is the trio-in-residence at the highly-esteemed New England Conservatory of Music. According to the Boston Globe, "passion is the hallmark of the Weilersteins' playing."
