Concert 4. Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 7:30 p.m.*
DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. East, DeWitt

Vive la France!
Travel with us halfway around the globe for a sumptuous and varied feast drawn from three centuries of French music.

For the appetizer, we'll have a "Conversation Galante et Amusante" for flute, violin, 'cello and piano, Op. 12, no. 1 by Louis-Gabriel Guillemain, a prolific composer and brilliant violinist at the court of Louis XV, who often performed for the royal couple.

The rich fare of the main course will consist of two masterworks: the Sonata in A major for violin and piano of Cesar Franck, followed after intermission by the one and only String Quartet (Quatuor a Cordes) of Maurice Ravel.

And for dessert, we finish with the delightful Sextet for Piano and Winds of Francis Poulenc.

The musicians, well known to fans of the former Syracuse Symphony, are: Jeremy and Sara Mastrangelo, violins; Arvilla Rovit, viola; David LeDoux, cello; Sar-Shalom Strong, piano; Deborah Coble, flute; Anna Petersen Stearns, oboe; Allan Kolsky, clarinet; Gregory Quick, bassoon; Julie Bridge, French horn.

*Please note the earlier time and different location.
